BTEC level 3 extended diploma in business

The Kronenburgh BTEC International Level 3 Extended Diploma in Business is a two-year program. It is a full time program for students 15 until 22 years. This programme may result in two diploma’s:

  • The Pearson BTEC International Level 3 Extended Diploma in Business; and
  • The MBO4 International Business diploma (Dutch diploma: vocational learning).

Both diploma’s give access to university education.

BTEC qualifications and Pearson

BTEC qualifications are awarded by Pearson, the UK’s largest awarding body offering academic and vocational qualifications that are globally recognised and benchmarked.

With a track record built over 40 years of learner success, the BTEC International Level 3 qualifications are recognised internationally by governments, industry and higher education. BTEC International Level 3 qualifications allow learners to progress to the workplace – either directly or via study at a higher level. Over 100.000 BTEC learners apply to university every year. Their Level 3 BTECs are accepted by UK and international universities, and higher education institutes for entry to relevant degree programmes. The BTEC International Level 3, is comparable to the Dutch MBO4.

Career-ready education

BTECs enable a learner-centred approach to education, with a flexible, unit-based structure and knowledge applied to project-based assessments. BTECs focus on the holistic development of the practical, interpersonal and thinking skills required to be successful in employment and higher education.

The BTEC International Level 3 qualification is developed working together with many employers, higher-education providers, colleges and schools.   • interpersonal skills – communicating, working collaboratively, negotiating and influencing, self-presentation;
  • intrapersonal skills – self-management, adaptability and resilience, self-monitoring and development.

Transferable knowledge and skills for higher education

How do the qualifications provide transferable knowledge and skills for higher education? All BTEC International Level 3 qualifications provide transferable knowledge and skills that prepare learners for progression to university. The transferable skills that universities value include:

  • the ability to learn independently
  • the ability to research actively and methodically
  • the ability to give presentations and be active group members.

BTEC learners can also benefit from opportunities for deep learning, where they are able to make connections across units and select areas of interest for detailed study. BTEC International Level 3 qualifications provide a vocational context in which learners can develop the knowledge and skills required for particular degree courses, including technical texts:

  • effective writing
  • analytical skills
  • preparation for assessment methods used in a degree.
